Conservation Partners
Exotic Woods of the World is committed to supporting efforts that help preserve forests, protect ecosystems, and promote responsible stewardship of wood resources.
As part of the Adopt-a-Species program, a portion of all support is directed toward organizations working in forest conservation, habitat protection, and sustainable forestry initiatives.
This page outlines the organizations we intend to support and why they were selected.
Our Approach to Conservation Support
The goal of this initiative is to connect education with real-world impact.
While this site focuses on documenting and preserving knowledge about wood species, conservation partners play a critical role in protecting the environments those species come from.
Support for conservation may come from multiple areas of the platform, including the Adopt-a-Species program and select partnerships or sponsorships aligned with the mission of the site.
We prioritize organizations that:
- protect natural forest habitats
- support long-term ecosystem preservation
- promote responsible forestry practices
- demonstrate transparency in their impact and reporting
Support is allocated as part of the Adopt-a-Species program:
- 60% directed toward conservation efforts
- 40% supports the ongoing development of this archive

How This Connects to the Archive
The Exotic Woods of the World archive is built to preserve knowledge about wood species, their characteristics, and their role in craftsmanship and global trade.
The conservation partner initiative extends that mission beyond documentation by supporting efforts that help protect the forests these species originate from.
