April 2026 Site Update

200+ Species Milestone
April marked a major milestone for Exotic Woods of the World as the library surpassed 200 published wood species pages.
What began as a relaunch earlier this year continues to grow into a comprehensive educational resource dedicated to documenting wood species from around the world. Reaching 200 species represents an important step toward building one of the web’s largest references for wood identification, woodworking properties, and conservation awareness.
Reaching 200 Published Species
The species library continued to expand throughout April with new additions representing a wide range of geographic regions, wood families, and commercial timber species.
The goal of the project remains to document both well-known and lesser-known woods, helping preserve information that may otherwise be difficult to find in a single location.
The growing library now includes species from:
- Africa
- Asia
- Australia & Oceania
- Europe
- North America
- South America
- Central America
- The Caribbean
Each new species page adds valuable information about appearance, grain patterns, physical properties, workability, durability, and common uses.
Expanding Educational Resources
In addition to new species pages, work continued on improving the site’s educational foundation.
Efforts during April focused on:
- Expanding species coverage
- Improving regional organization
- Enhancing educational content
- Developing future guide topics
- Planning video resources
- Strengthening internal navigation
These improvements help make the library easier to explore while supporting future growth.
Building for the Future
The project continues to be built with long-term growth in mind.
Future development plans include:
- Additional species pages
- Educational guides
- Video content
- Wood family resources
- Conservation awareness initiatives
- Collector-focused resources
Each month brings the project closer to becoming a leading educational reference for wood enthusiasts, collectors, woodworkers, educators, and researchers.
Looking Ahead
With the 200-species milestone now achieved, attention turns toward the next major goal: reaching 300 published species pages.
Continued expansion of the species library remains the top priority as Exotic Woods of the World grows into a more comprehensive resource covering woods from every major region of the world.
