March 2026 Site Update

Launch Edition
Welcome to the first official Site Update for Exotic Woods of the World.
Earlier this year, I made the decision to bring Exotic Woods of the World back with a renewed focus on education, wood identification, conservation awareness, and documenting wood species from around the globe. After reacquiring the domain in January and beginning work on the first new pages in early February, the educational relaunch of the project was publicly announced on February 13, 2026.
The goal of Exotic Woods of the World is simple: create one of the most comprehensive online resources dedicated to wood species, wood identification, woodworking properties, conservation awareness, and educational content. While many websites focus on only a small number of commercial species, this project aims to document both well-known and lesser-known woods from every major region of the world.
A Fresh Start
The relaunch represents a renewed commitment to building a long-term educational resource for woodworkers, collectors, educators, researchers, and anyone interested in learning more about wood.
The project is being rebuilt from the ground up with a focus on:
- Detailed species profiles
- Wood identification resources
- Physical and working properties
- Conservation information
- Regional hardwood collections
- Educational guides and reference materials
- Future video content
Every species page added to the library helps expand the knowledge base and preserve information about important timber species from around the world.
Building the Foundation
Throughout February and early March, work focused on establishing the framework that will support future growth.
Key priorities included:
- Creating new species pages
- Organizing species by geographic region
- Developing educational content standards
- Improving site structure and navigation
- Planning future video resources
- Building a long-term roadmap for the project
While much work remains ahead, the foundation is now in place for continued expansion.
Looking Ahead
The months ahead will focus on steadily growing the species library while adding new educational resources and expanding coverage of woods from around the world.
Future goals include:
- Expanding the Wood Species Library
- Developing wood identification resources
- Publishing educational guides
- Launching video content
- Promoting conservation awareness
- Creating resources for wood collectors and enthusiasts
Thank You
Thank you for following the relaunch of Exotic Woods of the World and supporting the mission to document, preserve, and share knowledge about the world’s remarkable wood species.
This monthly update series will continue to document the growth of the library, major milestones, new resources, and future developments as the project moves forward.
Stay tuned for next month’s update as we continue building the library and working toward new milestones.
